Installing the Internet Setup Wizard

If the Internet Setup Wizard is not already installed on your system (or you have the broken version that came with Internet Explorer version 1.0) you will have to install it before you can use it. Unfortunately Microsoft only bundles the Internet Setup Wizard with Internet Explorer (to force you to install IE). So we will install Internet Explorer version 2.0 just to get the Internet Setup Wizard.

  1. Click on Start --> Settings --> Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window double click on Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the "Add/Remove Programs Properties" window

Check that Internet Explorer is not on the list a already installed. If it is and it is version 1 you should remove it before installing version 2.

    Click on Install

  4. In the "Install Program from Floppy Disk or CD-ROM" screen

    Click on Next

  5. In the "Run Installation Program&quote screen

Type ":\msie20.exe" in the command line window

    Click on Finish

  6. Wait for a moment while Win95 figures out what it is doing.
  7. In the "Microsoft Internet Explorer V2.0 Installation Kit" screen

    Click on Yes to continue

Click on Yes to replace the license text (if this question appears).

  8. On the "Internet Explorer License Agreement" screen

Click on "I Agree" to the license agreement terms

  9. On the "Browse for Folder" screen

Click on the drive on which you wish to perform the installation (usually C: drive).

    Click on Ok

  10. Close the Control Panel
