When we decided that we were going to build touring racks back in 1994, we knew that ours would be different. We certainly didn't want ours to function like the racks that were already on the market. We knew ours would look different. We were quite certain that ours would perform differently. We also were very confident that ours would function better because we started using racks more than 20 years ago that incorporated features like integrated braze-on pannier mounting, braze-on lighting systems and strap guides. They were features developed out of need. They were ideas that made racks perform better - that nobody had ever heard of. Nobody had ever heard of them because the ideas were ours. We knew our racks would set a new standard of performance because we spent the last 20 years working on ideas to make racks perform better.
Sakkit Touring racks do perform better because we've developed many features that, like the ones of two decades ago, were born out of a need to make racks more functional. We needed to give our panniers more support and stability, so we nearly doubled the support of any other rack. We knew our panniers would be more functional if they had fore/aft adjustability without sacrificing support, so we designed Sakkit racks with that in mind. We needed far more functional platforms, Sakkit racks have them. From our telescoping, adjustable front rack platform to our PivotMount rear rack attachment, and from our PivotLoc integral pannier locking mechanism to our front mid/high rack design, we developed many ways to improve rack performance. Sakkit Touring racks are the new standard of excellence.
Our unique design, with a telescoping cross tube in the rack platform, allows Sakkit front racks to be adjusted to different fork widths. You won't find any gaps in our rack platforms. A longitudinal tube is highly effective in supporting gear.
The Sakkit mid/high-mount front rack is designed to carry as much weight as our rear racks. The wide profile of its side platforms provides the ultimate pannier support. Superb support, combined with two pannier mounting positions, and the extreme rigidity of its direct-to-fork mounting design, make it the finest front rack for tandem and expedition touring.
Not only is our PivotMount pannier attachment highly adjustable and rigid, its gold and stainless finish make it quite attractive as well. It's in sharp contrast to the flat adjustment pieces used on most racks.
Our standard rear rack, with its PivotMount attachment design, will fit any bicycle designed to carry racks. In this case an old, beat-up Trek 720. The long, well-designed platforms, combined with our unique strap guides, make Sakkit racks the most functional in terms of carrying gear on top of a rack.
