REVIEWS AND TESTIMONIALS

Over the years our panniers have been very extensively tested. In some cases they have been used under the most extreme conditions for thousands, and even tens of thousands of miles, before they were reviewed in a product test. RBD panniers have been compared with all panniers from Madden to Mountain Minded, from Jandd to Overland, and from Ortlieb to Cycle Smith. The following excerpts from product testing provide great evidence of our unwavering commitment to excellence, and of the fact that we build a much better product than the competition.

“ROBERT BECKMAN DESIGNS PANNIERS ARE SIMPLY HEAD-AND-SHOULDERS ABOVE ANY OTHER PANNIER." “Beckman’s are superb in both design and construction.” “If you plan to do a lot of self-contained bicycle touring, both on- and off-road, these panniers are for you.” -- Adventure Cyclist, 1996

“When I tour I use Robert Beckman Design bags. They’re hand-built to be the best, and to be the only bags you’ll ever have to buy for on- and off-road travel.” “I’ve toured with BOB BECKMAN’S WORKS OF ART for 11 years now, through 20 different countries and almost every state, and have yet to drop a stitch, or have a zipper to hang up on me. They’re worth every penny.” -- Summit Magazine, 1996

“Today’s panniers have as many bells and whistles as modern backpacks. THE BEST ARE DEFINITELY FROM ROBERT BECKMAN DESIGNS (formerly Needle Works).” -- Bike, 1994

THE ABSOLUTE, FLAT OUT BEST PACKS ARE MADE BY BOB BECKMAN…Beckman’s materials are simply the best; HIS DESIGNS ARE EXTRAORDINARILY CLEVER AND HIS WORKMANSHIP IMPECCABLE.” -- (review of Expedition Panniers)Southwest Cycling, September 1989

“A lot of thought has gone into the design, and the materials are top notch…The bags ride as if they were glued to the frame…They look good but do they last? In an average year I log some 10,000 miles. I’ve already got more than a full year’s use out of my Beckmans, and I’D RATE THEM THE BEST-BUILT, MOST INTELLIGENTLY DESIGNED PANNIERS.” -- Cyclist Magazine, March 1988

“These packs (Robert Beckman Designs World Tour Panniers), are the priciest of the bunch, but you get what you pay for. ON ALL COUNTS, THEY ARE THE BEST PACKS AROUND.” “Access to gear is unsurpassed, stability is excellent, workmanship impeccable.” “Every detail has been attended to.” “USING THESE PACKS WILL SPOIL YOU.” -- Outside Magazine, June 1987

THE ROLLS ROYCE OF BIKEPACKS…These are the packs that have THE MOST POCKETS, THE STURDIEST CONSTRUCTION, AND THE MOST METICULOUS ATTENTION TO DETAIL…Needle Works packs are really superb in both design and workmanship.” -- The Complete Book of All-Terrain Bicycles, Eugene Sloane, 1985

“I love saving the best for last, and NEEDLE WORKS PANNIERS ARE AT THE ABSOLUTE TOP OF MY LIST. In fact, if you compare the Needle Works packs to any of the others in this test it just doesn’t seem fair. From any aspect of pack design and production you want to consider NEEDLE WORKS BLOWS EVERYONE ELSE INTO THE WEEDS.” -- Bike Report Magazine, April/May 1985

NEEDLE WORKS PACKS ARE IN A CLASS BY THEMSELVES.” “In terms of durability, quality of construction and finish, stability, and ease of access to gear, NEEDLE WORKS PACKS ARE THE BEST.” -- Bicycle Rider Magazine, Summer 1985

THE BEST BICYCLE PACKS WE’VE EVER SEEN are those made by Bob Beckman at Needle Works.” “In terms of stability, access to gear, durability and workmanship, Needle Works panniers are unsurpassed. NOTHING…EVEN COMES CLOSE.” “The packs do not move on the rack.” -- Bicycle Sport Magazine, October 1984

“THE CRÈME DE LA CRÈME” “Needle Works offers bags to fit hand-built chromemolybdenum racks. Nothing moves. Construction is equally superb: all fabric edges are turned under or taped. Bombproof zippers run almost the entire perimeter of the bags.” “Optional straps let you cinch the bags to the racks for THE LAST WORD IN STABILITY.” -- Outside Magazine, June 1983
